ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

Every year, ABSA awards bursaries to a handful of deserving students who are pursuing their tertiary studies within fields relating to the sector in which the company operates, in particular, the following fields:

  • Actuarial Science
  • Computer Science
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Mathematics
  • Risk Management
  • Statistics

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, university accommodation (or university accredited accommodation), textbook allowance, meal allowance, transport allowance and a laptop. Students will also have access to a wide range of counselling services, the buddy system, workplace exposure via structured vacation work and soft skills training for integration into the working world.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • Studying at a recognised University in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 75%
