ASSET (Association for Educational Transformation) Bursary South Africa 2022 – 2023

The Association for Educational Transformation (ASSET), a non-profit organization situated in the Western Cape was founded in January 2003. The organization previously operated under the wing of the SAIRR (South African Institute of Race Relations), who formed the Bursary Programme in 1972. The SAIRR has a longstanding history of assisting disadvantaged students with their educational needs and today the ASSET bursary supporting around 500 students each year.

As a way of giving back to the disadvantaged community, ASSET has a bursary program to allow students to pursue their studies who lack the funds to pay for their tuition. Funding is received from not only local and national donors but also international donors.

Each year ASSET award bursaries to students pursuing their first higher certificate/ diploma/ degree qualification in ANY field of study, at a University or the University of Technology within the Western Cape (University of Cape Town/ University of the Western Cape/ University of the Stellenbosch/ Cape Peninsula University of Technology).

The partial bursary does not cover all expenses – it is variable and will cover a percentage of registration fees, tuition fees, and books. Students must apply for other loans or bursaries to cover the balance of their fees.

Bursaries will support students for the entire duration of their undergraduate studies, on the condition that they maintain good grades. Students must reapply for funding each year.

ASSET bursaries are not repayable, but bursary recipients should join the ASSET Alumni Association and occasionally assist with other programs or in the office.

The final selection will be made towards the end of January 2021, based on academic merit and financial need. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of February 2021 – if you do not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
